TWA’s London Special

TWA, in conjunction with Trusthouse Forte Hotels, is offering its round-trip transatlantic passengers a “Countryside Special” to Great Britain until next March.

If you pay for three consecutive nights at one of nine of the chain’s hotels in London, you can get the next three nights free in any of 200 other Trusthouse Forte properties throughout Great Britain.

The three gratis nights have to follow the three nights in London, but they don’t have to be at the same hotel.

Reservations have to be made in the United States for the London stay. Reservations for the free hotel nights in the countryside can be made while in London (your hotel can assist), but your chances of getting a room are better if you book in the United States.

Cities outside London taking part in this promotion include Oxford, Bath, Stratford-on-Avon, Cheltenham, Newbury, Canterbury, Coventry, Ipswich, Salisbury, Abingdon, Oxhill, Marlborough and Dorking. Three hotels close to Heathrow Airport are in Windsor, Camberley and Ascot.

In a separate promotion TWA is also offering round-trip transatlantic passengers three days free use of an Alamo rental car in London.

If you’re going to Great Britain from Ireland, check an offer, until Dec. 31, by Hertz in conjunction with Sealink British Ferries. If you rent a Hertz car in Ireland for a minimum of five days under its Hertz Affordable Ireland program, you can get complimentary ferry rides from Ireland to Britain.

Two free ferry tickets are provided if you rent a compact car, up to five free tickets for a larger car.

The four-hour ferry departs from either Rosslare or Dun Laoghaire in Ireland, and arrives at either Fishguard or Holyhead in England.

When the Affordable Ireland rate is used, cars can be returned to any of Hertz’s 11 locations throughout the country without drop-off charges. Cars returned to Belfast or Derry in Northern Ireland are subject to a drop-off levy.
