A new poll in the insurance initiative fight, by Steve Teichner, indicated, as have other recent polls, that Proposition 103, backed by consumer advocate Ralph Nader, continues to be the only one in the lead. It was favored by a narrow plurality, 34% to 31%, with the rest undecided, while Proposition 100, backed by California trial lawyers, trailed 23% to 41% and two insurer-backed initiatives also lagged, Proposition 101 by 16% to 47% and Proposition 104, the no-fault measure, by 21% to 44%. Among those surveyed, only 15% found television commercials had made the insurance issues “more understandable,” while 81% found the commercials made the issues “more confusing.”
