A Palestinian who admitted killing two women passengers during a November, 1985, hijacking was sentenced to 25 years in prison by a Maltese court. Omar Mohammed Ali Rezaq, 25, was the lone survivor of three Palestinians who seized an EgyptAir Boeing 737 flying from Athens to Cairo. At the trial in Valetta, Rezaq pleaded guilty to the execution-style killings of Scarlett Marie Rogenkamp, 38, of Oceanside, Calif., and Nitzan Mendelson, an Israeli. Fifty-eight people, including Rezaq’s two accomplices, were killed when Egyptian troops stormed the plane to end the hijacking.
