Not to be outdone by his Democratic rival, Republican Curt Pringle reported $190,000 in new campaign contributions Thursday in the final days of the 72nd Assembly District race.

Included in that total was $154,000 in cash and in-kind contributions from state Republican leaders, according to campaign finance records filed in Sacramento. Pringle has now received a total of $878,459 in contributions, compared with $940,323 for his Democratic opponent, Christian F. (Rick) Thierbach.

Since Oct. 22, Thierbach has received $384,283, nearly half of it from state Democratic organizations and lawmakers.

Among Pringle’s late contributions were $107,000 in cash and non-monetary contributions from the state Republican Party and $47,000 in cash from the state Republican Central Committee. Pringle also received a $25,000 loan from a Republican-supported group, Alliance for Representative Government.

The 72nd District seat is vacant because of the death of Assemblyman Richard E. Longshore (R-Santa Ana) on June 8.
