A helicopter crashed into the Gulf of Mexico moments after taking off from an oil platform today, and four of the six men aboard remained missing after the rescue of two others, an oil company spokesman said.

The injured survivors were taken to St. Patrick’s Hospital in Lake Charles. The twin-engine Aerospatiale Twinstar with a pilot and five passengers crashed into the sea after lifting off from West Cameron 617, a Mobil Oil exploration and producing platform. It was headed to another Mobil platform about 24 miles away.
