A small number of athletes tested positive for marijuana use at this summer’s Olympics but no penalties were imposed, the anti-doping chief of the Games said today.

Prince Alexandre de Merode, head of the International Olympic Committee’s medical commission, said fewer than 10 of the 1,601 athletes who underwent urinalysis in Seoul showed signs of marijuana use. It was the first time the IOC tested for the drug.

There was no indication that the marijuana use took place at the Games.
