Cotton Bowl-bound Arkansas remained unbeaten Saturday and clinched its first Southwest Conference title since 1965.

Kendall Trainor set a conference record with his 16th and 17th consecutive field goals as the Razorbacks romped to a 33-3 Southwest Conference victory over Baylor at Waco, Tex.

The previous 7 Arkansas-Baylor games were settled in the fourth quarter, but No. 11-ranked Arkansas put this one away early.

It was Arkansas’ biggest victory over Baylor since 1977, when the Razorbacks won, 35-9. The Razorbacks, favored by a touchdown, lost 3 of their previous 4 games in Waco.

Texas A&M;, which faces Arkansas next week, is 4-0 in the conference but is not eligible because it is on probation.

Arkansas extended its record to 9-0 overall and 6-0 in the SWC. Baylor dropped to 4-5 and 0-5.

Houston 66, Texas 15-- Quarterback Andre Ware passed for 304 yards and 5 touchdowns, and Chris Witherspoon rushed for 218 yards in 11 carries as the Cougars crushed the Longhorns at Austin, Tex. It was the largest margin of defeat for Texas in 84 years.

Texas (3-5, 1-3) had not lost by that many points since a 68-0 defeat to the University of Chicago in 1904. It was the only time the Longhorns allowed more points than Saturday.

Texas, which fell behind, 35-3, at halftime, has lost 4 consecutive games for the first time since 1956.
