French Express Derails in Collision; Nine Killed

EPERNAY, France —
A Paris-bound express train struck a maintenance car today in a small village station in northeastern France, derailing the locomotive and nine passenger cars. Officials in nearby Epernay said nine people were killed, all railroad employees working on track maintenance. The train from Luxembourg was carrying about 400 passengers when it crashed passing through Ay, 85 miles east of Paris.
