The Art Institute of Southern California has received a $450,000 matching grant from the Harry and Grace Steele Foundation of Newport Beach. If the college can come up with an equal sum by Aug. 31, 1991, the money will be used for the college endowment fund, to create scholarships for bachelor of fine arts students, and to support student services, the library and campus expansion studies. The process of matching the funds already has begun with two grants of $25,000 each, one from the Segerstrom Foundation in Costa Mesa (earmarked for library acquisitions, scholarships and a faculty endowment fund to recruit senior faculty) and one from Western Digital Corp. of Irvine, to equip and operate a computer graphics laboratory.

Opera Pacific is offering nine internships in its production department, from Jan. 23-March 1, 1989 and May 29-July 6. Fields of study include stage management, production assistance, stage direction and administration. Interns will be offered a weekly stipend.
