Coverage of Gays

I have been finding myself becoming more and more frustrated with the San Diego County edition of the L.A. Times.

I am sure you are fully aware of the fact that you consistently neglect to mention or make reference to every and any homosexual political event that happens in “America’s Finest City.” This is a blatant homophobic political action on your part.

Given the large number of homosexuals in the San Diego area, there should have been mention of numerous events that have taken place this last summer, let alone the last couple years, i.e. thousands attending the annual Gay Pride Parade. That day you chose to have a feature piece about a gentleman who refinishes old mirrors.

Come on, tell me that was not intentional. Thousands marching down the streets of our city and no mention of it?

And if it was not intentional, then you folks need to wake up. Start reading your mother paper and try to get a few ideas on what the responsibilities of a real newspaper are.

What about the National Lesbian Rights Conference that was recently held in San Diego? I could not find any mention of this. Was it lost in the fine print? This was a national conference, not just a group of gals getting together to chat.

I am not asking for advocacy, just some unbiased reporting. Some recognition of homosexuals as part of what’s going on in San Diego as a whole is long overdue.
