The United States, the Soviet Union and West Germany are collaborating on a major exhibition of Russian and Soviet avant-garde art, “Russian and Soviet Art of the Avant-Garde 1910-1930,” which is being called the first joint effort of its kind. Soviet Culture Minister Genrik Popov said the exhibition, due to open in New York in November, 1991, before traveling to Frankfurt and the Soviet Union, is important because it will “give people a chance to see each other more closely.” The exhibition is to feature more than 600 works in the fields of painting, design, sculpture, decorative arts and architecture. The inclusion of theater and film is also under discussion.
