Legendary dance man Gene Kelly will be the 25th recipient of the Screen Actors Guild annual achievement award, it was announced Friday. The guild’s annual achievement award is given for “fostering the finest ideals of the acting profession.” Kelly, the veteran of more than 40 films and musicals, is best known as the star of “Singin’ in the Rain,” “An American in Paris” and “Anchors Aweigh.” He also choreographed 10 movies and directed or co-directed a dozen movies, including “Singin’ in the Rain” with Stanley Donen. Kelly, 76, will accept the award at the guild’s annual membership meeting on Dec. 11 in Universal City.
