Curtis Strange Wins Face-Off
Curtis Strange drove to within two feet of the second hole of sudden death, then calmly sunk a birdie putt to win the $2-million Nabisco Championships today, becoming the first golfer ever to top $1 million in winnings in a single season.
Strange, who led the tournament wire-to-wire, was forced into a playoff by Tom Kite, who birdied the final hole in regulation play Sunday to grab a share of the lead. Rainy weather and darkness forced the sudden-death playoff to be delayed until this morning.
