Monrovia : Report on Mobile Homes

The City Council voted Tuesday to form a subcommittee to review the adequacy of a relocation impact report submitted by owners of Park Santa Anita Mobilehome Park.

Joseph Sherman and Harold Looney, owners of the 5-acre, 63-space park on 5th Avenue, want to close the facility for commercial development. The report, which assesses the impact of closure on tenants, must be approved by the City Council before park owners can be granted a conditional use permit to develop the land.

Although some tenants have moved since they were informed of the owners’ plans last spring, 38 remaining households would have to be relocated if the park is closed, according to the report.

The subcommittee will review the report with tenants and the owners, and make a recommendation to the council Jan. 3 on whether to accept the document.
