Sounding Out the Problem of Pests

Share

Eugene Ryan of Baldwin Park is looking for an ultrasonic pest control device ; he says Ole’s carried it some time ago, but now he’s unable to find it. Can you help Ryan so that he can stop bugging us, or will he keep getting more antsy because his app-roach doesn’t seem to want to fly?

Lucille Binder, who lives in the San Fernando Valley, would like to find a spray product that keeps moths off dolls or stuffed bears and other collectibles; somebody told her such a product exists but couldn’t remember the name. Can you refresh a few memories (in addition to keeping the collectibles fresh), or will Binder be all aflutter because the problem will be too much to bear?

Bud Rivkin of Del Mar needs someone to repair a Woog Ora System home dental care unit. The firm’s local offices seem to be out of business. Can you help before Rivkin’s hopes decay completely, or might he just as well stop grinding his teeth in the realization that perhaps he’s taken on more than he can chew?

A. L. Singer of Hollywood would love to obtain some plastic insert tabs for men’s shirt collars. Without sticking your neck out, can you help Singer keep tabs on this collarful situation, or is there no point in telling him to keep his shirt on?

For Cathy Cline of Leucadia, who was looking for the old-fashioned smoke bells that dispersed smoke from wall sconces, we have a glimmer of hope. Bob Hudson of San Diego says to try Pacific Marine Supply in Point Loma or any other large yacht-supply store. He says many sailboats still use oil lamps and that these smoke bells are needed to keep ship cabins clean.

Perhaps Florence Muktarian of Sacramento, who needs some Finnish-made Arabia stoneware in the Anemone pattern, won’t have to fly to Finland; she may not even have to come to Los Angeles. Dirck Meengs of the Complete Service in Thousand Oaks (they specialize in many types of china replacements) says Replacements Ltd., 302 Gallimore Dairy Road, Greensboro, N.C. 27409, tries to keep this pattern in stock and will notify customers when it’s available. And Ruth L. Clark of West Los Angeles says the Finnish Center on Eight-Mile Road in Farmington Hills, Mich., (313) 478-6939, might have some of the stoneware, or at least tell her who might stock it; otherwise, a call to the Finnish Embassy would be a good beginning.

For Ethel Evans of Venice and G. Loomis of La Puente, both of whom wanted the small metal gadget that resets off-the-track zippers, we have no retail sources, only a suggestion. Don Schultz of Reseda Cleaners in Reseda says Evans should zip over to any good dry cleaner, and they would solve her problem. (He adds that he has been using that particular gadget for 40 years.)

More on water-filled innersoles: Walt Greenes of Sherman Oaks says there is a local distributor for the product: Shirley Eichberg, c/o Foot Float, 4321 Matilija Ave. No. 13, Sherman Oaks, Calif. 91423, phone (818) 788-7074.
