THE ROOKIE
Your piece on Aaron Cox (“The Rookie,” by Gene Wojciechowski, Oct. 2) neglected to remind us that when Aaron Cox exits the world of football, he will undoubtedly take with him a body that will require a lifetime of visits to doctors because of the injuries he will sustain in a sport that leaves its veterans physically damaged. I admire Aaron Cox’s escape from South Central Los Angeles, but, for his sake, I wish he were a rookie in medical school or law school. Your article glorifies a “profession” that does not deserve elevation.
