NASHVILLE, Tenn. —
An elderly man confessed that he killed his wife of 53 years by shooting her at least six times as she sat in a chair to put her out of her misery from Alzheimer’s disease, police said today.
Forrest L. Boone, 73, was treated for shock and powder burns on his hand after the shooting at the couple’s home Monday, then jailed on charges of first-degree murder, investigators said. The body of Genevieve Diamond Boone, 75, was found slumped in a chair in the couple’s living room.
