That was quick. ‘E.T” perched on top of the Billboard magazine rental chart for just one week. “Beetlejuice,” which slipped to No. 2 for a week, reclaimed the No. 1 position. “Above the Law,” starring the fledgling adventure hero Steven Seagal, is doing even better than expected, barging up to No. 4 in just two weeks. Disney’s “Return to Snowy River Part II,” good family fare, should fare well this holiday season. This chart newcomer charged up to No. 16. “Biloxi Blues,” the Neil Simon barracks comedy, entered at No. 28 but is ticketed for the Top 10. The Bruce Willis-James Garner spoof “Sunset” rose to No. 25 on the rental chart.

* Though it debuted at No. 23, expect a “Three Men and a Baby” boom in the rental market. Anticipating blockbuster business, Touchstone shipped 535,000 (a record for a high-priced title) units to stores. Look for “Baby” to burst into the top Five next week.
