The State : 12 Injured in Freeway Crash
Twelve people were injured when a truck jackknifed on rainy Interstate 5 near Gorman and began a chain-reaction crash involving four other vehicles, authorities said. The truck jackknifed shortly after 3 a.m., blocking two northbound lanes. A van carrying 12 people hit the truck and a car slowing behind that crash was struck by another car, said Highway Patrol Officer Monty Keifer. Another car sideswiped the pileup and left the scene, he said. Eight people were taken to Henry Mayo Medical Center in Newhall. One woman was in critical condition, another victim was in serious condition and the remaining were in fair condition.
