Ex-Beatle Ringo Starr is back in Britain after a five-week stay in a private clinic in Arizona that treats alcoholics, vowing to reporters that he would never touch alcohol again. “I feel a lot better,” Starr said Friday, “and my intention is never to drink again. . . . I haven’t had a drink in 45 days, and that’s amazing for me.” The 48-year-old drummer and his wife, actress Barbara Bach, decided to go to the clinic when they realized how serious their drinking problem was, according to Starr.
