Fluorocarbon Co. reported that earnings for its third fiscal quarter ended Oct. 31 rose 70%, to a record $2.5 million from $1.5 million a year ago. Sales for the quarter increased 22%, to $63.6 million from $52.2 million. For the first 9 months of the fiscal year, earnings rose to $8.1 million, from the $4.1 million reported for the comparable period last year. Sales totaled $184.3 million, 49% higher than the $123.6 million posted for the like period a year ago. The company said it was the best third quarter and 9-month period in its history. Fluorocarbon, based in Laguna Niguel, is a supplier of industrial components. Major markets served are aircraft and aerospace, chemical processing, automotive, truck and off-road equipment, construction, hydraulic and pneumatic, valve and pump, medical, pulp and paper, and energy.
