Acting Student Shoots Himself

An actors workshop student doing a scene from the movie “Lethal Weapon” was critically wounded when he put a loaded gun in his mouth and fired it, officials said today.

Investigators were treating the shooting as self-inflicted, but they were not able to determine if it was accidental or an attempted suicide, police said. The victim, Adam Smith Hancock, 22, of Tujunga was in critical condition at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his brain. Hancock, a student at the Eagle Theatre, was rehearsing a scene of his own choosing Monday in front of about 20 other students when the gun discharged.
