NHL : Kurri, Carson Lead Oilers, 7-4

Jari Kurri and Jimmy Carson scored two goals each as the Edmonton Oilers came back to defeat the Quebec Nordiques, 7-4, Monday night.

Edmonton trailed, 4-3, after two periods, but Kurri tied the score with his 12th goal of the season at 3:59 of the third period. He scored the game-winner with his team short-handed at 11:14.

Keith Acton and Craig MacTavish added insurance goals for the Oilers. Jeff Brown, Peter Stastny, Gord Donnelly and Anton Stastny scored for the Nordiques.

Edmonton’s Bill Ranford--starting in place of Grant Fuhr, who had a stiff neck--faced 23 shots, and Quebec’s Bob Mason faced 32.

After the teams ended the first period tied, 1-1, Peter Stastny scored at 3:20 of the second period, and Donnelly put the Nordiques ahead, 3-1, at 7:58.

Carson scored 2 goals in a 21-second span to tie it, but a goal by Anton Stastny at 13:10 gave the Nordiques the lead again, 4-3.
