Chrysler Corp. says it will end car production at its Kenosha, Wis., plant Dec. 23, putting about 5,300 people out of work. Plans to end auto assembly at the former American Motors Corp. plant by year’s end were announced earlier by Chrysler Chairman Lee A. Iacocca. Chrysler spokesman Lloyd Northard said about 1,200 people would continue to run the engine-building operation at Kenosha once the assembly lines close. The plant produces L-body cars--the Plymouth Horizon and Dodge Omni--and M-body cars--the Plymouth Gran Fury and Chrysler Fifth Avenue.
