UC Irvine Tries to Get on Winning Track Against USF

Share

UC Irvine opened the basketball season with a defeat Coach Bill Mulligan called “a pathetic performance by the players and coaches” and then followed with a victory he described as “amazing.” Tonight at 7:30, the Anteaters get another chance when they play host to the University of San Francisco.

Irvine has already evolved from a full-tilt running team to a pick-your-spot-to-fast-break squad. No matter what style the Anteaters play, however, it’s evident that guards Rod Palmer, who is averaging 16 points and 5 assists, and Kevin Floyd (14 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists) have to stay in control and shoot well for Irvine to win.

The Dons (2-0) coasted to the title of the Fresno State tournament, beating Pan American in the first round, 76-66, and Idaho State in the championship game, 90-76.
