Elsewhere on the Spanish-language front, KWHY Channel 22 in Los Angeles has become the latest TV station to jump the English-language ship. KWHY, a part-time business-news channel and home for SelecTV, will begin airing Spanish-language programs during prime time by next fall. But KWHY’s transition could be moved up to Jan. 1 if SelecTV, a struggling subscription movie channel, fails to secure $22 million in financing for its own makeover into a multichannel cable service. “I don’t expect to bring in any real dollars” right away, said KWHY’s president, Burt Harris. “We just want to get our foot in the door.”
