The World : Israeli Jailed in Arab Death
An American-born immigrant was sentenced to three years in prison in Israel for the shooting death of an Arab shepherd who took his sheep to graze near a Jewish settlement in the occupied West Bank. Israel Zeev, 38, last week was convicted of manslaughter in the May shooting, the first time a Jewish civilian has been convicted in the death of an Arab since the start of the Palestinian uprising nearly a year ago. Zeev, a Chicago native who moved to Israel more than 20 years ago, also was convicted of shooting and injuring a second person.
