USC Women Rebound to Beat Northeastern

COLUMBUS, Ohio —
Cherie Nelson scored 20 of her 28 points in the first half Sunday to lead No. 14 USC to a 74-52 victory over Northeastern for third place in the Buckeye women’s college basketball tournament.
In the second half, Nelson, who also had 11 rebounds, scored 6 points during a 14-4 run that gave the Trojans (2-1) a 58-38 lead with 10:39 remaining.
Nelson had 23 points in Saturday’s upset loss to Illinois State to give her a tournament-record 51 for two games.
Illinois State, which upset USC Saturday, defeated host Ohio State, 75-66, to win championship.
