Aself-styled Glendale minister accused of charging immigrants for “green cards” he was unable to produce was too ill to appear for arraignment Monday in Los Angeles County Municipal Court, authorities said.

The Lebanese immigrant suffered a diabetic seizure at Glendale City Jail, Deputy Dist. Atty. Patricia H. Horikawa said.

Khoury, director of the Kingdom and World Mission of our Lord Jesus Christ at 1250 S. Glendale Ave., is charged with four counts of grand theft and one count of attempted grand theft. He is accused of promising to obtain working papers for immigrants in exchange for money, which he allegedly masked as donations to his storefront operation.

If convicted, Khoury could face up to 6 years in prison, Horikawa said. His bail is set at $25,000, she said.
