New Continental Air Chairman
D. Joseph Corr, the former president of Trans World Airlines, has been named chairman and chief executive officer of Continental Airlines, the company announced today.
Corr replaces Frank A. Lorenzo, chairman of Continental’s parent company, Texas Air Corp. Lorenzo will remain a director of the Houston-based carrier. Lorenzo said Corr’s selection “emphasizes Texas Air’s commitment to managing our airlines separately, and it will allow me to devote all of my time to Texas Air activities.” Texas Air also owns Miami-based Eastern Airlines.
