William E. Zimmerman has resigned as editor and senior vice president of the newspaper American Banker, effective Jan. 1. He plans to pursue other interests in the publishing field. Zimmerman, 47, joined the newspaper as a copy editor in 1962 and later became a senior financial reporter. He was named managing editor in 1973.
