Evonne Schulz and Fred Colby were sworn in Wednesday as new members of the San Diego Community College District Board of Trustees, which sets policies for the 90,000-student district that includes City, Mesa and Miramar colleges as well as continuing-education centers. Longtime member Louise Dyer was elected president.

Schulz replaces retiring member Richard Johnston and Colby replaces Gene French, whom he defeated in the November election. The two new members promise to bring new visibility to the board by actively promoting new programs and questioning traditional administrative methods.
