Mitterrand Meets Dissidents

PRAGUE, Czechoslovakia —
French President Francois Mitterrand, after lauding the 1968 Prague Spring reform in front of the leaders who dismantled it, met dissidents today in the first such session by a visiting head of state.
Mitterrand spent over an hour with the eight dissidents, including banned playwright Vaclav Havel and other leading members of the Charter 77 human rights movement. He had invited them to breakfast at the French Embassy.
