There’s something for everyone this weekend as television continues to trot out a long procession of holiday specials.

Christmas music will be part of Channel 28’s ongoing pledge drive, with “A Peter, Paul & Mary Holiday Concert” at 8 tonight, and Sunday programs featuring the Vienna Boys Choir at 3:40 p.m., the Mormon Tabernacle Choir at 4:50 p.m., Luciano Pavarotti at 8:05 p.m. and flutist James Galway at 9:15 p.m.

Fox will ring in the holidays Sunday at 8 p.m. with “A Rock ‘n’ Roll Christmas” on Channels 11 and 6. Hosted by “Saturday Night Live’s” Dennis Miller, this hourlong program weaves together vintage clips of rockers such as Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix, Elton John and Marvin Gaye singing Christmas songs.

LeVar Burton and Louis Gossett Jr. resurrect their legendary characters Kunta Kinte and Fiddler Sunday at 9 p.m. in ABC’s “Roots: The Gift” (Channels 7, 3, 10,42).

On a sober note, KHJ-TV Channel 9 airs an hourlong documentary Sunday at 9 p.m. on the often tragic effects of alcohol abuse. Meredith MacRae, whose late father was a recovering alcoholic, hosts “A Second Chance: Surviving Alcoholism,” which looks at the impact alcoholism has on the family and at how many individuals and their families have successfully battled the disease.
