Share

Danny Ferry broke a 37-year-old Duke record by scoring 58 points Saturday night as the top-ranked Blue Devils outgunned Miami, 117-102.

Ferry made 23 of 26 shots and broke the mark of 48 points set by former Duke and major league baseball star Dick Groat against North Carolina in February 1952.

Duke (6-0) had a 92-72 lead with 8 1/2 minutes left, but Miami (3-2) rallied, and Levertis Williams made a 4-point play in an 8-0 spurt that got the Hurricanes within 105-97 with 3 minutes left.
