The World : Plane Downed, Kabul Says

Pakistani jets shot down an Afghan transport plane in eastern Afghanistan, killing 25 people, Kabul Radio said. No Pakistani comment was immediately available on the report, which said the plane was downed by Pakistan air force planes as it was heading from the border town of Khost in Paktia province to Kabul. “This attack shows the Pakistani interference in Afghan territory and violation of the Geneva accords,” the broadcast said. Kabul and Islamabad signed U.N.-mediated Afghan peace accords last April that provide for the withdrawal by Feb. 15 of Soviet troops helping the Communist government in Kabul fight Western-backed Muslim guerrillas.
