County Labor Analyst to Take Sacramento Post

Share

Daniel A. Johnson, Orange County labor market analyst for the state Employment Development Department, is leaving that post Jan. 9 to take a new position with the department in Sacramento.

Johnson, 38, will become special assistant to the chief of the EDD’s labor market information section, a job he described as a management-training position.

An 8-year employee of the EDD, Johnson was named to the Orange County analyst post in August, 1987, replacing veteran county labor analyst Alta Yetter-Gale when she transferred to Los Angeles.

Johnson’s replacement has not yet been named.

In addition to compiling and interpreting statistical data that ultimately is translated into the county’s monthly unemployment rate report, the labor market analyst serves as the EDD’s local liaison with private, governmental and educational job-creation and job-training programs.

In the 16 months he has been in Orange County, Johnson has watched the area’s jobless rate hover at between 3% and 4%--a level that most economists say represents virtual full employment.
