Anita Baker gave it the best that she’s got and it’s paying off. She’s humming victory tunes these days after dethroning U2’s “Rattle and Hum” and reigning as queen of the Billboard magazine pop album chart. Edie Brickell popped into the Top 20 with her “Shooting Rubberbands at the Stars” (No. 20). Wild man Sam Kinison has a fast-rising comedy album, “Have You Seen Me Lately?” (No. 43).

* This EP, comprising old tracks, remixes and a couple of newies, isn’t supposed to be great. Instead, it is supposed to satisfy fans’ voracious appetite for Guns N’ Roses product. And by all signs “Lies!” is doing just that: It zoomed up to No. 22 and may join “Appetite for Destruction” in the Top 10.
