I was emotionally jolted and thoroughly pleased by Gorbachev’s address to the United Nations. Details aside, I vehemently believe that compelling re-evaluations of global priorities are upon us and that we witnessed a movement approaching Tennyson’s powerful vision in the poem “Locksley Hall” of a time when:
“. . . The war drum throbbed no longer and the battle flags were furled
In the Parliament of man, the Federation of the world.”
