Local News in Brief : Reputed Drug Ring Hit Man Sentenced
A reputed drug ring hit man linked by police to about 50 slayings was sentenced Friday to 43 years to life in state prison for one of the murders and an attempted murder.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Ernest Hiroshige imposed the sentence on Roberto Lopez, 35, after denying a defense motion for a new trial.
Lopez was convicted in April of the 1982 killing of Oscar Orozco and trying to kill Julian Perez, who allegedly sold cocaine for Lopez, at a Glendale motel.
