A witness at the trial of confessed hijacker Mohammed Ali Hamadi testified that a pistol used in the 1985 hijacking of a TWA jetliner may have been smuggled onto the plane inside a fish. Petra Posiege, 31, a West German police investigator, said Greek authorities told her the information came from a suspect they were holding who may have been linked to the hijacking plot. They also said, she testified at the trial in Frankfurt, West Germany, that grenades were smuggled aboard the plane “between some fruit.” She said the authorities told her they did not believe the suspect, identified as Ali Atwa, but refused to provide details on why he was arrested. Hamadi has admitted taking part in the hijacking, but denied he killed a passenger, Navy diver Robert D. Stethem.
