Danube Threatened by Pollution From Oil Spill

ALLMENDINGEN, West Germany —
About 1,800 gallons of heating oil leaked into the Danube River from a West German industrial plant on Tuesday, and serious pollution could result, officials said.
The oil leaked from a tank at a plant near Allmendingen, about 30 miles southeast of Stuttgart, police said.
