The National Public Radio news staff will test the range of their radio voices Friday when they perform a Christmas play based on NPR storyteller and children’s book author Daniel Pinkwater’s “Wizard Crystal.” Bob Edwards, the host of NPR’s “Morning Edition,” stars as the morose wizard who goes in search of a magic crystal and happiness. Other characters include a New-Age shop owner played by weekend anchor Lynn Neary, a wilderness rabbi played by “All Things Considered” co-host Robert Siegel, a chorus of singing frogs and NPR news analyst Daniel Schorr as a laconic blue moose. The play airs as part of Friday’s “All Things Considered” on KCRW-FM at 4 and 5:30 p.m.
