Whittier : Homeless Shelter Needed
Organizers of the Ecumenical Council’s rotating winter homeless shelters need a place for the homeless to sleep Jan. 3 to 17.
The shelter system rotates every two weeks among seven churches in Whittier, but organizers have been unable to find a place for the beginning of January, organizer Minerva Schaida said. “Maybe someone has a heated building that could be used as a shelter,” she said. “It’s too cold to be out on the street right now.”
Those sleeping at the shelters also receive free meals from the Whittier Ecumenical Food Bank. For information, call St. Matthias Church, 698-9741.
