Vice President-elect Dan Quayle announced Thursday the appointments of David Ryder as his deputy chief of staff and Lizabeth Murphy as deputy press secretary.

Ryder, 33, is currently director of the Office of Management and Operations for the Office of the President-elect. He will serve as deputy to Quayle’s newly designated chief of staff, Robert Guttman, and will oversee the daily management and operations of the vice president.

Until last month, when the Indiana senator was elected vice president, Ryder was operations director for TCOM Systems Inc., a mail distribution company.
