S. Dakota Governor Hurt in Snowmobile Accident

Associated Press

Gov. George S. Mickelson was thrown off a snowmobile Saturday when he dropped into a 10-foot-deep ravine, and he was hospitalized in serious condition with a broken collarbone, four broken ribs and a bruise on his lung, press aide Gretchen Lord Anderson said.

Anderson said the governor’s physician, Dr. Tom Huber, determined that the injuries were not life-threatening and that Mickelson, 47, did not suffer head injuries or lose consciousness.
