“Roseanne,” ABC’s comedy about a working-class mom, worked its way to the top of the ratings chart, according to A.C. Nielsen figures released Wednesday. Led by the strong showing of Roseanne Barr’s series, its Tuesday-night lead-in “Who’s the Boss?” and a “Monday Night Football” game between the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings, ABC found itself in second place for the week behind front-running NBC. A full list of the ratings appears on Page 12.

* Veteran reporter David Brinkley’s interview with President Reagan last Thursday did not fare as well for ABC. The hourlong special, which aired opposite a repeat of NBC’s “L.A. Law” and the last half of “A Christmas Carol,” starring George C. Scott on CBS, attracted only 12% of the viewing audience from 10 p.m.-11 p.m. TV RATINGS
