Kings’ Robitaille All-Star Vote Leader

Left wing Luc Robitaille of the Kings polled 29,680 votes in the latest National Hockey League All-Star fan balloting period to take a 627-vote lead over Edmonton Oilers goalie Grant Fuhr in the overall race.

Robitaille leads the balloting with 194,951 votes. Fuhr, the top Campbell Conference vote recipient last year, has 194,324 votes to lead all goaltenders.

This is the fourth year fans have selected the starting lineups for the NHL All-Star Game, which will be played at Edmonton Feb. 7. Fans will select the starting lineups for the Wales and Campbell Conference teams, while the coaches, Terry O’Reilly of Boston and Glen Sather of Edmonton, will pick the remaining players.

Center Wayne Gretzky of the Kings, right wing Jari Kurri of Edmonton and defensemen Kevin Lowe of Edmonton and Brad McCrimmon of the Calgary Flames lead the balloting at their respective positions.
