Santa Clara Women Defeat Irvine, 54-51

Christine Choppelas scored 10 of her 14 points in the second half Wednesday to lead host Santa Clara to a 54-51 victory over UC Irvine in a women’s nonconference basketball game.

Irvine (2-6), led at halftime, 25-22, but Santa Clara (3-8) rallied behind the outside shooting of Choppelas. Kathy Lizarraga had a career-high 16 points for Irvine.
