The Agriculture Department said it will establish offices at 17 historically black universities to help encourage more minority members to enter agriculture and forestry. Agriculture Deputy Secretary Peter C. Myers said the offices will help with curriculum development, recruit and counsel students on employment opportunities in the Agriculture Department and develop new ideas and approaches to help small-scale, limited-resource and minority farmers. “From international trade to the revitalization of rural America, there are numerous career opportunities in agriculture and forestry,” Myers said.
